New TTC opens in Sydney
The Federal Government has announced the opening of the new vocational training centre at the new Greater West Independent Schools Alliance Trade Training Centre (TTC).
The centre was opened with $3.7 million in Federal funding, and will share facilities with students from St Paul’s Grammar School Penrith and Wycliffe Christian School.
“The new facilities give students access to a new automotive workshop, a refurbished carpentry workshop, an electrotechnology workshop and a hospitality facility." Federal School Education Minister Peter Garrett said.
“This centre will help students achieve recognised trade qualifications while they finish school, and also help address local skill shortages.
“Trade Training Centres are helping increase the number of students achieving Year 12 or an equivalent qualification by making sure students can get high quality, relevant education and training that helps them pursue their interests and get jobs.”
Federal Member for Lindsay David Bradbury said the new centre will help local students stay in school, complete their education and get a great job.
“Learning a trade is just as important as going to university,” Mr Bradbury said.
“This new Trades Training Centre will provide even more students in our local community with a head start in their skills training, making them more attractive to future employers.
