Victorian ICT buying gets functional facelift
Victoria has smartened up its online system for managing ICT procurements. The eServices Register will now help connect providers and buyers of ICT services with Government contracts and each other. It could allow small-scale ICT companies and software developers to deliver on large-scale Government projects.
Victorian Technology Minister Gordon Rich-Phillips, speaking at an Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) event in Melbourne, said “the eServices Register will provide a simplified process for Victorian ICT companies bidding for government work, and allow the Victorian Government to make more informed purchasing decisions from a greater range of suppliers as well as monitor the range and scope of eServices engagements.”
The improved register meets point 30 of the Victorian Government’s ICT Strategy, taking advantage of industry capabilities and analysing the market’s capability to deliver value-for-money and innovative solutions.
The eServices Register has been designed to work as a market place not only for linking companies with the Government, but for exposure to the Ariba Global Network. Suppliers can employ the service to identify possible partners and collaborate to respond to Government requests.
“Procurement practices must continue to focus on achieving value for money, and we will engage with the ICT market early in the procurement lifecycle to better understand and describe business needs,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.
