Water and Waste Water Treatment Operator 

 

The Opportunity

Tangalooma Island Resort is hiring an Water and Waste Water Treatment Operator to join our Maintenance Team. You will play a vital role in managing and monitoring the Sewerage Treatment Plant and Water Treatment Plant at our resort. In this role, you will help us deliver a premium customer experience in this amazing environment, ensuring our guests' comfort. Ready to work and play in paradise?

The STP Operator will be responsible for plant operations, water treatment, wastewater treatment and pump station management on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Cert III or higher in Water Industry Operations – Water and Waste Water Treatment.
  • A trade certificate in plumbing is highly regarded.
  • At least 5 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment.
  • Solid knowledge of safety standards and chemical handling.
  • Strong adherence to legislative and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic fitter operations for pump removal and servicing.

Key Responsibilities:

Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) Operation:

  • Inspection and maintenance of all equipment including pumps, Aerators, Hypochlorite dosing system, cloth filter and flocculant dosers
  • Testing mixed liquors in the Bioreactors and making adjustments to the plant’s PLC.
  • Maintain treated effluent release systems, including sprinklers and pipework.
  • Oversee waste activated sludge systems.
  • Sample collection for independent laboratory testing.
  • Maintain required environmental records as per the Environmental Management Plan.

Sewerage collection pump pits:

  • Perform daily inspections of pump pits for faults or required maintenance.
  • Take daily meter readings and log them.
  • Cleaning of pits, pumps, and floats, and replace components when needed.
  • Maintain guide rails and associated pipework.Maintaining the pits guide rails and associated pipework.

Potable Water Reticulation Plant:

  • Inspect equipment, including dosing pumps and controllers, and maintain proper levels of disinfection and pH.
  • Organize third-party servicing of dosing systems.
  • Repair, clean, and replace potable water pumps and bores.
