Safe Work Australia has launched new performance measuring tools.

Safe Work has updated its online platform - Our Data. Your Stories. - with a number of additions, including a new webpage designed to help users interpret WHS data and understand reporting principles.

It also features an interactive dashboard providing workers’ compensation injury frequency rate data.

The dashboard enables filtering by factors such as industry, occupation, injury type, and severity, allowing for more targeted benchmarking. This feature is based on Safe Work Australia's national workers’ compensation statistics.

It is intended to promote a more comprehensive approach to data analysis and will eventually replace the current Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) calculator.

Safe Work says the LTIFR calculator, often used to gauge the impact of WHS issues on productivity, has limitations when applied to overall WHS performance. However, it will remain accessible on the platform until March 2025.
