The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Project Engineer to manage the smooth and efficient transition of projects between our departments, with the opportunity for further career development.

The successful candidate will be the technical contact between our design engineers and customers and be responsible for:

  • Manage the creation and collation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals in conjunction with the Project Managers
  • Assist the Project Manager in finalising the project designs with the design team
  • Review and close out design, HAZOP and CHAIR registers.
  • Liaise with supplier and keep track of procurement
  • Assist the PM in managing the project risks
  • Ensure OHS compliance at all times
  • Prepare and submit RFI and ensure close outs in a timely manner.
  • Create the bill of materials for each project and ensure correctness 
  • Manage the project fabrication and layout drawings 
  • Carry out drawing reviews for buildability prior to them being issued for construction 
  • Quality checking of critical components and fabricated items 
  • Assist construction team with technical advice as needed during the site installations
  • Assist in cost and schedule tracking
  • Maintain and update Management of Change and Variation Registers
  • Identify Scope creep and raise it with the Project Manager
  • Assist with tendering process and provide engineering support to bid leader
  • Collate and manage all required QA and commissioning documentation to create complete and approve handover packages.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience and knowledge in the water and wastewater or fluid handling industry (preferred);
  • Able to plan and deliver on your commitments with autonomy and across multiple projects simultaneously (essential);
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Working knowledge on pipes, pumps, valves etc (preferred);
  • Able to review civil site layouts, cross-sections, long-sections etc; and
  • Basic knowledge in hydraulics (preferred).

Pre-Requisites

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering desired;
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience with projects in the water industry or similar process industries (preferred) however graduates will be considered;
  • Experience in end to end  project engineering; and
  • Excellent written & verbal communication.
